Police Make Arrest In Veterans Memorial Vandalism

Listen to HEADLINE

(CBS) -- Police in New Lenox have a suspect in custody they say is linked to the recent destruction of a veterans memorial.

Brian Sundstrom, 26, was arrested Thursday as he was heading into the police station to talk with authorities about the incident, WBBM's Mariam Sobh reports.

Police say they had enough evidence to link Sundstrom to the Sept. 28 vandalism.

That's when stone monuments honoring branches of the military were toppled over.

Larry Paveza of the New Lenox VFW praised police for making the arrest.

Sundstrom is currently being held at the Will County Jail.
