Police Say Lakeview Mattress Fire Non-Criminal
(CBS) -- A mattress leaning against a home in the Lakeview neighborhood caught on fire overnight and it's got residents on edge again.
There have been nine alley fires in the area since June in the area. Two of them happened on Sep 26, about a block away from this latest one.
Chicago Police confirm that the matress fire was non-criminal.
At the gift store Equinox at the corner of Roscoe and Broadway, Jim Marchand says people are nervous but he's hoping the store's location on the corner of a main street will keep the arsonist away.
"There is a lot of visibility and a lot of traffic back and forth constantly, so I mean the store is well-lit at night, especially now at Christmas time with all the Christmas trees lit up," Marchand said.
