Police: Girl, 3, Accidentally Shot By Older Brother
(CBS) -- Gary police say a three-year-old girl was accidentally shot by her older brother, six, near a daycare center in Gary Friday afternoon.
The two kids were inside a car by themselves at around 4 p.m. Friday in the 1000 block of Gary when the boy found a gun and it accidentally went off, hitting his sister in the hand, police said. The gun belonged to the father, who was inside the daycare center at the time of the incident, police said.
The girl was initially taken to North Lake Methodist Hospital in Gary before being transferred to a hospital in Chicago, police said. Her condition is not known.
Police say charges are pending.
