Police: Dairy Queen Employee Helped Plan Armed Robbery

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A Dairy Queen employee allegedly helped carry out an armed robbery Sunday night at the Lincoln Park store where he works.

Chicago police said 23-year-old Marquise Boyd helped 28-year-old Haili Bernard plan the robbery of the Dairy Queen on the 2200 block of North Lincoln Avenue.

Around 10:30 p.m. Sunday, Bernard allegedly entered the Dairy Queen through a side door as the store was closing, brandished a handgun, and announced a robbery, police said.

An employee ran for the front door, startling Bernard, who stole the victim's cell phone, and fled the scene.

Bernard and Boyd each face one count of felony armed robbery, police said.

Both men were scheduled to appear in bond court Wednesday.
