Police Chase Ends In Crash, Injures At Least Four

(STMW) -- At least four people were injured after a police chase ended in a crash on the West Side Wednesday afternoon.

About 12:30 p.m., a 24-year-old woman flagged down police after she was robbed by an armed burglar in the 1700 block of West 35th Street in the South Side McKinley Park neighborhood, police News Affairs Officer Veejay Zala said.

The officers sent out a flash message with the description of the vehicle the alleged armed robber was driving, Zala said. Police from the 12th District spotted the vehicle and tried to curb it, but the driver fled the scene, eventually causing a four-vehicle accident in the 2000 block of West Jackson Boulevard, Zala said.

Paramedics took the 17-year-old that drove the vehicle and two other passengers to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County with non-life threatening injuries, Zala said. The teen is in police custody and charges are pending against him, Zala added.

Another driver was taken to Stroger as well, but that person's gender, age or condition was not immediately known Wednesday night.
