Police Arrest Brothers In Slaying Of Missing Atlanta Woman
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two brothers have been charged in connection with the murder and disappearance of an Atlanta woman.
Laneesha Miller was reported missing in June. At the time, investigators drained the Marquette Park Lagoon in an unsuccessful search for her body.
On Thursday, divers recovered what they believe are her remains in the Calumet River near Interstate 57.
Sources tell CBS 2's Mai Martinez that at least one of the brothers confessed to beating and stabbing Miller, then cutting up the body and dumping her remains in a trash bag in the Calumet River.
Paul Meyers, 33, has been charged with first-degree murder.
Arronis Jackson, 44, has been charged with concealing a homicide.
Miller, a 28-year-old mother of three, was reported missing in late June.
She was last seen by a friend in the 9600 block of South Halsted Street. She last spoke to her father on June 21, when she said she was planning on driving to Georgia to visit relatives, but she never made it.
After her family contacted authorities, police issued a community alert in late June.
