MESA, Ariz. (CBS) -- The Cubs hosted the Texas Rangers in Cactus League play Thursday.
It did not go well.
Pitcher Yu Darvish and second baseman Jason Kipnis were both scratched due to illness. For the game, the Cubs used a pitcher-by-committee approach that was not successful.
They walked seven batters, and Jason Adam gave up a pair of two-run singles.
The Rangers blanked the Cubs 5-0.
But for something to look forward tom, the regular season will arrive in just over a fortnight.
