Man rushed to hospital after falling onto Red Line tracks at Garfield stop

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was rushed to the hospital Tuesday evening after he fell onto the CTA Red Line tracks along the Dan Ryan Expressway.

Police said at 7:06 p.m., the 58-year-old man was on the platform at the Garfield Red Line station when he fell onto the northbound tracks.

The man was not hit by a train, but he did suffer a head injury when he fell, police said.

The victim was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in good condition.

Red Line trains were not stopping at Garfield following the incident, according to the Chicago Transit Authority.
