Person Killed When SUV Crashes Into Elgin Creek

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A person was killed when an SUV crashed into a creek Monday morning in northwest suburban Elgin.

A 2015 Toyota SUV was driving on Garden Crescent Drive near Tivoli Place when it left the road and crashed into Tyler Creek at 7:37 a.m., according to a statement from Elgin police.

The SUV was pulled from the creek and a female was found dead inside, police said. Her name was not released pending notification of her family.

The area near Garden Crescent Drive and Tivoli Place remained closed for about three hours, police said.
