Person killed after freight train strikes semi-truck on Chicago's South Side
CHICAGO (CBS) – A person was killed after a freight train struck a FedEx semi-truck in the Fuller Park neighborhood Monday morning.
Chicago fire officials said the crash happened at the Norfolk and Southern rail yard, 350 W. Garfield Blvd.
Chopper 2 was over the scene where the semi was caught between two freight trains. One train was moving and pushed the cab into its trailer into an adjacent train, derailing both.
Officials said the semi was stopped on the tracks at the time of the crash. Fire crews are working on making a recovery.

As CBS 2's Asal Rezaei reported, initial reports say the driver of the semi was pinned inside the cab of the truck.
Almost a dozen firefighters are on the scene next to that FedEx semi-truck that appears to have accidentally gotten up on the tracks.
Chicago Fire Department posted on social media just before 8:00 saying a freight train struck a semi that was stopped on tracks on rail property.
CFD is making a recovery. Initial reports indicated the driver of that semi was pinned inside of that cab and were still working to confirm details as to what led up to this accident.

An investigation as to what led to the crash is underway.
