Woman Found Dead On Sidewalk By Snow Shoveler In Niles
(CBS) -- A grisly discovery in northwest suburban Niles as 55-year-old Elizabeth Lutz was found dead in the snow, reports CBS 2's Pamela Jones.
"Right when I got there, they flipped her over. I'm like, oh my god. It's Liz," said Annie Hall, who lives a few houses away from her friend, Elizabeth Lutz.
Lutz's body was found by a neighbor's relative Monday around 5:15 p.m.
"A neighbor that was shoveling. He noticed a dark thing that was in the snow. Figured it was a garbage bag," Hall said.
It turns out it was Lutz's winter clothing he could see. Her body was face-down in the snow along the parkway in front of the home she shared with her companion of eight years.
""I ran over into Rick's house and said 'Rick! Liz is out here' because he had just gotten home and he didn't see," Hall said. "He didn't notice anything wrong."
That companion told CBS 2 off camera his home surveillance camera showed her leaving the house and that police are still trying to work out how she died.
Lutz had fought breast cancer since 2006 and kept fighting back.
"She had like breast cancer, she had COPD she had a lot of issues, but she just kept on trucking," Hall said. "She kept on being happy."
