Crash kills driver, shuts down lanes on Chicago expressway, state police say

Man killed in crash on Edens Expressway north of Chicago

LINCOLNWOOD, Ill. (CBS) — Illinois State Police late Sunday were investigating a deadly crash on the Edens Expressway.

The crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. on northbound I-94 at Touhy Avenue.  

Sources said a white Volkswagen crashed and rolled over—landing upside-down.

The sources said they believe the driver may have been thrown from the vehicle, and was then hit by a FedEx truck.

The driver of the car died at the scene.

All lanes in the area were closed for hours while police searched for cluse.
