Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Metra Train In Mount Prospect

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A person was fatally struck by a Metra train Thursday morning in northwest suburban Mount Prospect.

Inbound UP-Northwest train No. 608, which was scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 7:17 a.m., hit a pedestrian at Northwest Highway and Louis Street in Mount Prospect about 7 a.m., according to Metra and Mount Prospect police.

The pedestrian, a male whose age wasn't immediately available, was killed, according to police.

Inbound and outbound trains on UP-Northwest line are running with extensive delays, according to Metra. The CTA is honoring Metra tickets from Rosemont to Chicago at all Blue Line stations until 9 a.m.
