Ostrowski: Best Daily Fantasy Plays For Week 6
By Joe Ostrowski--
(CBS) Andy Dalton, Devonta Freeman, Larry Fitzgerald and Tyler Eifert all rank in the top two at their respected positions. The great thing about daily fantasy is that if you missed out late in the draft or on the waiver wire, the opportunity is still there to use these players.
Let's review last week's lineups that hit the jackpot.
FanDuel: $5 million NFL Sunday Million ($1 million to first place)
Winner: "joshua9028" -- 206.54 points
QB: Eli Manning
RB: Doug Martin, Devonta Freeman
WR: Odell Beckham Jr., Julian Edelman, James Jones
TE: Antonio Gates
K: Matt Bryant
D: Broncos
The streak of new players winning "The Sunday Million" continues. "joshua9028" has only eight wins on FanDuel, all in the NFL. This is considered a chalky lineup because three roster spots had ownership levels of at least 22 percent, and only Doug Martin was considered low-owned. Martin posted three scores, and 441 passing yards for Manning made the stack with Beckham work.
Draft Kings: $7 million Millionaire Maker ($1.2 million to first place)
Winner: "chenthai15" -- 255.62 points
QB: Sam Bradford
RB: Devonta Freeman, Justin Forsett
WR: Allen Robinson, Julian Edelman, Emmanuel Sanders
TE: Antonio Gates
FLEX: Doug Martin
D/ST: Packers
There were no stacks here. This winner went against the grain by not using a QB-RB or RB-DST stack. Every player hit his yardage bonus or scored two touchdowns. It had the correct amount of contrarian plays with Bradford, Martin, Sanders and the Packers all owned by less than seven percent of the field.
Week 6 top daily fantasy plays
QB in cash games: Patriots' Tom Brady at Colts
Vegas projects New England to score 31 points, the most of the week. This is the biggest stop on the Brady revenge tour. There's no need to overanalyze this play. I'm having a tough time arguing against rostering any Patriots.
Another option: Bengals' Andy Dalton at Bills
QB in tournaments: Packers' Aaron Rodgers vs Chargers
Rodgers threw an interception last Sunday at Lambeau Field for the first time since 2012. In fact, the elite quarterback had three turnovers. Rodgers is back at home, where he won't repeat that performance. Ownership levels hovered around five percent in the Thursday tournaments. Chances like this don't come around often.
Another option: Eagles' Sam Bradford vs. Giants
RB in cash games: Vikings' Adrian Peterson vs. Chiefs
Peterson has averaged almost 24 touches per game over his last three contests. I guess Minnesota fixed that problem. He's a dominating three-down back on a team that's a home favorite. Kansas City has to figure out how to put points on the board without Jamaal Charles to stay in this one.
Another option: Jets' Chris Ivory vs. Redskins
RB in tournaments: Patriots' LeGarrette Blount at Colts
I gave you Brady, but I also mentioned that every Patriot is in play. New England has averaged 219 yards on the ground against Indianapolis in their last three meetings. The big running back, Blount or Jonas Gray, have combined to score 11 touchdowns in those games.
Another option: Dolphins' Lamar Miller at Titans
WR in cash games: Texans' DeAndre Hopkins at Jaguars
Hopkins has 75 targets on the year. Julio Jones is second on the list with 68, and Jones has played an extra game. Surprisingly, Houston is playing at the quickest pace in the NFL.
Another option: Cardinals' Larry Fitzgerald at Steelers
WR in tournaments: Giants' Odell Beckham Jr. at Eagles
This is a high-risk, high-reward play. Beckham hasn't practiced all week but has worked on the side. His ownership is going to be extremely low due to the injury concern. I prefer to use him on late swap sites since it will be tough to get information before Monday night.
Another option: Packers' Randall Cobb vs. Chargers
TE in cash games: Patriots' Rob Gronkowski at Colts
Gronkowski hasn't scored a touchdown in his last two games. The last time he failed to get into the end zone in three straight weeks was 2011. We know all about the Patriots-Colts storyline.
Another option: Chargers' Antonio Gates at Packers
TE in tournaments: Panthers' Greg Olsen at Seahawks
Daily fantasy players are going to stay away from Olsen because of Gates' big return from suspension in primetime. A Seattle matchup always scares the masses, but the Seahawks have already allowed four touchdowns to the tight end position.
Another option: Chiefs' Travis Kelce at Vikings
