Ostrowski: Best Daily Fantasy Plays For Week 13
By Joe Ostrowski--
(CBS) Here's a look at the players to have in mind if you're playing daily fantasy for Week 13.
QB in cash games: Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger vs. Colts
Roethlisberger threw for 456 yards in Seattle last week, and Antonio Brown accounted for only 11 percent of those yards. That won't happen again. Big Ben may not match the yardage, but he will throw more than one touchdown. Roethlisberger has averaged 390 yards over his last three games. There aren't any concerns about his concussion symptoms after being cleared Wednesday and practicing in full on Thursday.
Another option: Panthers' Cam Newton at Saints
QB in tournaments: Seahawks' Russell Wilson at Vikings
It's shocking to see Wilson be owned in less than 2 percent of Thursday contests following his hot streak. The "celebrity quarterback" has eight touchdowns and a 76 completion percentage over the last two games. Wilson doesn't have a rushing score this season after six rushing touchdowns in 2014. That should change soon.
Another option: Jets' Ryan Fitzpatrick at Giants
RB in cash games: Steelers' DeAngelo Williams vs. Colts
Can you tell I like the Steelers to bounce back? Williams is in the perfect spot we always search for in a cash-game running back: He's a high-volume back on a team that's a heavy home favorite. Williams is consistently on the field for more than 90 percent of the Steelers' offensive snaps. Since Roethlisberger is good to go, Vegas has made Pittsburgh touchdown favorites.
Another option: Panthers' Jonathan Stewart at Saints
RB in tournaments: Patriots' LeGarrette Blount vs. Eagles
New England is missing Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman and Dion Lewis. Danny Amendola is expected to return from a knee injury. Vegas still projects the Patriots to score the most points in the NFL this week. Where are the points coming from? It could be back to Blount. Since the Lewis injury, New England has won by multiple scores twice. Blount averaged 23.5 touches in those games. The Patriots are favored to beat the Eagles by 10.
Another option: Falcons' Devonta Freeman at Bucs
WR in cash games: Bears' Alshon Jeffery vs. 49ers
Martellus Bennett practiced in full all week, so that means the Bears' offensive weapons are finally all healthy at the same time. San Francisco has had five games against legit No. 1 receivers: Julio Jones, Odell Beckham Jr., Antonio Brown and Larry Fitzgerald twice. Those wideouts have averaged nine catches, 131 yards and 0.8 touchdowns. The Bears are scoring only 21 points per game, but Vegas has set their implied point total at 25.5.
Another option: Giants' Odell Beckham Jr. vs. Jets
WR in tournaments: Colts' T.Y. Hilton at Steelers
Hilton is coming off a two-touchdown game with Matt Hasselbeck under center, and his Thursday ownership was still only 8 percent. Colts-Steelers is tied for the second highest over/under of the week. If you believe this will be a shootout, try rostering receivers from both teams. Hilton has the second biggest advantage of all the receiver-cornerback matchups this week, according to Pro Football Focus.
Another option: Steelers' Martavis Bryant vs. Colts
TE in cash games: Panthers' Greg Olsen at Saints
New Orleans is the worst at nearly everything on defense. Olsen would be the top option even if Gronkowski was healthy. The Saints have given up the most fantasy points to tight ends, including 10 touchdowns in 11 games to the position. Olsen has taken 99 percent of Carolina's offensive snaps and has 23 more receptions than anyone else on the team.
Another option: Titans' Delanie Walker vs. Jaguars
TE in tournaments: Jaguars' Julius Thomas at Titans
Thomas has been targeted 18 times over the last two weeks. Receiver Allen Hurns and his seven touchdowns are out with a concussion. The workload for Thomas and Allen Robinson will increase. Blake Bortles averages 40 pass attempts per game. Thomas was owned in only 6 percent of Thursday lineups.
Another option: Chiefs' Travis Kelce at Raiders
