Orange Line Robbers Apparently Rode Train All Day Before Holdup
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police believe the two men who robbed an entire train car on the Orange Line earlier this week were riding the train all day before their brazen afternoon rush hour heist.
WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports police have released new close-up images of the suspects, taken from surveillance cameras on the CTA.
The two men robbed at least four people at gunpoint after they stormed an Orange Line train Wednesday afternoon, as the train was traveling between the Halsted and Roosevelt stops.
Police have checked video from some of the thousands of cameras on the CTA system, and determined they had been riding the Orange Line for most of the day, but waited until around 4:15 p.m. to rob one car, just after the train left the Halsted station.
The robbers got away with about $100 in cash, an iPhone, an iPad, two laptop computers, and some credit cards.
At least four people was robbed, and one woman was pistol-whipped when she resisted giving up her purse.
