One Year After Bryce Laspisa's Disappearance, Parents Ask For Acts Of Kindness

(CBS) -- August 30 at 2:09 am. is the last time the family of former Naperville man spoke with their son.

Bryce Laspisa called his parents telling them he was pulling over to rest in his car while driving in California. CBS 2's Jeremy Ross spoke with his family one year later.

Last year investigators found a car on its side with the back window busted out in the rocky California terrain, but they failed to find its driver – 20-year-old Bryce Laspisa.

His mother Karen and father Michael spoke to us via Skype on the anniversary of his disappearance. They say they live everyday with uncertainty

The family says they've received tips from about a half dozen different states including right here in Illinois and after a year of searching they hope those tips continue.

"Anybody if they have any information that they do the right thing because nobody should be living with this kind of nightmare," said Karen.

That includes the horrors of fielding phone calls when remains are discovered around the area where Bryce's car was found, like the discovery of a charred corpse that was unrelated to Bryce's case.

On this emotional anniversary the family says they can't handle another vigil and are instead asking people to perform one random act of kindness.
