Woman Dead, Two Men Hurt In Schaumburg Crash

SCHAUMBURG, Ill. (STMW) -- A northwest suburban woman was killed and two men were hurt when a car and an SUV collided Monday morning in Schaumburg.

The crash happened about 10:40 a.m. when a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV hit a Chevrolet Malibu that was turning left from eastbound Irving Park Road to northbound Mitchell Road, according to a statement from Schaumburg police.

The SUV had been heading west on Irving Park and hit the passenger side of the car, police said.

A 78-year-old Schaumburg woman riding in the Malibu was pronounced dead at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, police said. Her name was not being released as of late Monday afternoon pending notification of relatives.

Both the 82-year-old man driving the Malibu, and the 78-year-old man driving the Tahoe were also taken to Alexian Brothers, police said. The drivers, who also live in Schaumburg, were being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Authorities closed the intersection to traffic until 4 p.m. as police reconstructed the accident.

No charges had been filed as of late Monday afternoon.
