CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 25-year-old woman was killed when her car hit a tow truck, then crashed into a wall dividing the Dan Ryan Expressway from the CTA Red Line near 87th Street early Monday morning.

Illinois State Police said the woman was driving south at a high rate of speed in the center lane of the Dan Ryan, when she lost control of her Chevy Impala, around 6 a.m. and hit a Kenworth heavy duty tow truck in the lane to her right. The impact sent her Chevy rolling over to the left, and it struck the concrete median separating the expressway from the CTA Red Line tracks.

The tow truck also struck the concrete barrier, knocking part of the wall onto the tracks.

According to the Fire Department, woman driving the Chevy died at the scene. State police said the 25-year-old woman was not wearing a seat belt. The tow truck driver was taken to Roseland Community Hospital. His condition was not available.

Power to the Red Line was shut down between 87th Street and 95th Street for about 20 minutes as emergency crews responded to the crash, and removed debris from the tracks. Trains were delayed during the morning rush, but were running again.

Three left southbound lanes of the Dan Ryan were blocked as crews investigated the crash, but all lanes had reopened by 11 a.m.
