O'Hare Once Again Busiest Airport In The World In Terms Of Take-Offs And Landings
(CBS) -- O'Hare Airport appears to be flying high again. Numbers show the airport is once again the world's busiest in terms of take-offs and landings at least.
The announcement was made at the end of the World Routes 2014 convention at McCormick Place.
"O'Hare isn't just the busiest airport in the world, it's an asset for the City of Chicago," said Mayor Emanuel in a statement. "These new gains will help us attract new businesses and solidify our place as the best connected city in the U.S. and around the world."
So far this year 585,517 planes took off or landed. That beats Atlanta's Hartsfield airport which had just over 582,000.
It's believed Atlanta still handles more passengers. O'Hare lost its title as busiest airport in the world in 2004.
