Updated 11/2/17 - 10 a.m.

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Two Oak Park police officers were injured in a crash early Thursday, when their squad cars collided while responding to a call.

Police said the officers in the two squad cars -- one SUV and one sedan -- were responding to another officer's request for assistance with a traffic stop around 3;30 a.m.

One responding officer was heading north on East Avenue, and the other was traveling west on Adam Street, when both of them blew a four-way stop and collided at the intersection, police said.

Paramedics took the officers to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood. Neither officer's injuries were life threatening; one of the officers was released by 9:30 a.m., and the other was still at the hospital undergoing tests.
