Northern Illinois Sneaks By Western Michigan, 65-63

DEKALB, Ill. (AP) — Aaron Armstead scored 17 points, including four of five from 3-point range, to help lead Northern Illinois past Western Michigan 65-63 on Tuesday night.

After David Brown hit a pair of free throws with 2:52 left to give Western Michigan a 60-59 lead, Northern Illinois stormed back with five straight points capped by an Armstead 3-pointer which gave the Huskies a four point lead. Western Michigan had two final opportunities to tie the game, but Connar Tava missed a layup with seven seconds left and A.J. Avery missed another four seconds later.

Jordan Threloff added 13 points and seven boards for the Huskies (13-15, 7-10 Mid-American Conference), who have won three straight and snapped an 11 game losing skid to the Broncos.

Brown scored 14 points to lead Western Michigan (18-12, 9-8). Tava added 12 points and seven boards.
