New Evidence Could Shed Light On Murder Of Nicole Bowers 15 Years Ago
(CBS) --Investigators in Grundy County have taken a step forward in a murder case that's 15 years old.
It was August 3, 2000, when 17-year-old Nicole Bowers disappeared from her mother's home near Morris.
Almost three years later, some of her remains were found in a wooded area in Channahon - only 30 percent of her remains.
Police now say that other evidence collected at that scene has been sent to the Illinois State Police Crime Lab and that DNA has been found on that other evidence.
The deputy chief of the Channahon Police says it is not Nicole Bowers' DNA. He says forensic testing is still going on.
Investigators are asking people to come forward with any information about the Bowers case.
