Muhammad Ali's Daughter Fighting Violence By Encouraging Kids To Box
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The daughter of legendary boxer Muhammad Ali is back in Chicago trying to get kids to put down the guns, and pick up their gloves, reports WBBM's Terry Keshner.
Rasheda Ali-Walsh says teaching kids to box will actually help stop them from killing and getting killed.
"My main mission here today coming back to my hometown of Chicago is to try to curb the gang and gun violence here that has devastated millions of people, including mine," said Ali-Walsh.
Ali-Walsh's cousin was killed in Chicago in 1997. On Thursday, she will appear at a boxing exhibition in Merrionette Park to raise money for the Celtic Youth Foundation to expand youth boxing initiatives to combat gang and gun violence across the Chicago area.
