Lockdown Lifted At Mount Sinai After Phone Threat
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A lockdown was lifted at Mount Sinai Hospital after nearly four hours on Thursday, after the hospital received a threatening phone call.
Police confirmed the hospital was placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure, after someone called in a threat to shoot everyone in the hospital around 10:25 a.m.
Mount Sinai spokeswoman Diane Hunter said the hospital took "all necessary precautions to protect the safety of patients, employees and visitors." Entry and exit to and from the hospital was restricted while the lockdown was in place.
Police said the person who called in the threat was not on the property of the hospital.
The lockdown was lifted by 2:30 p.m.
