Morgan Park Residents Upset After Racist Graffiti Spray Painted On Cars, Garage Door

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Residents of one South Side neighborhood are upset over racist graffiti that someone has sprayed on their property, reports WBBM's Nancy Harty.

Morgan Park resident Marsha Eaglin says the racist words were spray painted all over her family's two vehicles as they sat behind her house near 108th and Hermosa sometime between Thursday night and early Friday morning.

"It's just really awful to see these words used to any human being, especially in 2014," Eaglin said.

Eaglin, who is African-American, says two other neighbors were targeted on her block and three others a couple of blocks away, just down the street from a police station. One of her neighbors had a racist message sprayed on a garage door.

The owner of a non-profit, Eaglins says she is unhappy about the cost of repairing her cars and added security around the home. She is worried the situation could escalate.
