Montero Has Big Day, But Cubs Fall 4-2 To Reds

MESA, Ariz. (AP) — Miguel Montero went 3-for-3 with a home run for the Chicago Cubs, who lost 4-2 to the Cincinnati Reds on Saturday.

Montero also singled and doubled in front of a crowd of 15,443 at Sloan Park. The veteran catcher is 5 for 5 so far this spring.

Cubs right-hander Trevor Cahill threw two scoreless innings in his first appearance of the spring. He allowed two hits and struck out three.

Cincinnati grabbed a 2-0 lead on Tucker Barnhart's homer off Eric Jokisch in the third inning.

Reds starter Brandon Finnegan struck out two in two scoreless innings in his second appearance.
