Singletary will work on the defensive side in an advisory role for a franchise that recently relocated to Los Angeles. Singletary has been out of coaching in the NFL since working as the linebackers coach for the Vikings from 2011 to 2013. Singletary was the 49ers' head coach from 2008-'10, compiling an 18-22 record.

Singletary was a leading figure on the 1985 Bears defense, which led the team to its lone Super Bowl title. Singletary mentioned his new coaching position during an interview reflecting on the death of Buddy Ryan, the defensive coordinator on that team and a father figure to Singletary.
