Mets vs. Cubs: 2015 Stats For Game 1 Starters Lester, Harvey
CHICAGO (CBS) -- With the Game 1 pitching matchups set, how did the hitters fare against Cubs' starter Jon Lester and the Mets' Matt Harvey?
Both had solid outings against their foes. Harvey threw seven shutout innings while scattering three hits in a May 13 start at Wrigley Field.
Lester started twice against the Mets, going 1-0 with a 2.08 ERA.
Also in that May series at Wrigley, the Cubs saw both Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant go deep on hard-throwing Mets right-hander Jacob deGrom, who will likely start Game 3 of the NLCS. (The Cubs hit six homers in Game 3 against the Cardinals.)
Kyle Schwarber, who's white-hot so far in the playoffs (three homers, five RBIs and a .538 average), didn't face deGrom.
The Cubs lead the majors in total strikeouts for 2015, about their only weakness compared with the rest of the league.
