Metra: Juvenile Electrocuted After Jumping On Train
(STMW) -- An outbound Metra Electric District train was cancelled Sunday night after a juvenile jumped on a train in the south suburbs and was electrocuted, according to a Metra spokesman.
About 7 p.m., a "couple of juveniles" went in to a rail yard in south suburban University Park, said Metra spokesman Michael Gillis. One of them was electrocuted after jumping on top of a parked electric train, Gillis said.
Train no. 815, scheduled to arrive in University Park at 7:39 p.m., was stopped in Matteson for nearly two hours before its service was canceled, according to Metra. Train no. 816—originally scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 8:59 p.m.—will now begin service in Matteson but was not yet on the move at 9 p.m.
Neither the Matteson police or fire department could provide details on the incident Sunday night.
