(CBS) -- For a 25-year-old man from north suburban Zion, Tuesday was a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day.

WBBM Newsradio's Steve Miller explains.

Police in Round Lake Beach say they got a call in the middle of the afternoon that a man was shoplifting a basket full of electronics from Walmart.

"They went outside to talk to him, at which time he dropped the basket and fled on foot," Deputy Police Chief Mike Scott says.

Officers caught up with the man, Che Hearn of Zion. This was apparently pretty easy to do, because he was on foot.

"They asked him why he was walking down the road, and he said his car had been repossessed," Scott says. "And they said, from where? And he said, 'From Walmart.'"

Scott says the repo people had been following Hearn around and seized his car while he was inside the Walmart, allegedly trying to steal electronics.

And Hearn is now charged with one count of retail theft.

"He's the unlucky thief.  It was really his bad, bad day," Scott says.
