Maywood Police Investigating Murder Of Cab Driver
(CBS) -- Maywood police detectives are investigating the overnight murder of a cab driver, reports WBBM's Mike Krauser.
It happened at around 9 p.m. Friday night on Congress between 4th and 5th avenues just north of the Eisenhower Expressway, according to Maywood Police Chief Val Talley.
"There was an unknown perpetrator who probably solicited services from the cab driver, who is a 34-year-old man, and they probably robbed him. We are not positive what actually occurred but that he was shot in the back," said Chief Talley.
The driver worked for the Blue Cab company based in Forest Park and the owner of the company identified the him as Seneca Richardson of Maywood.
Richardson was shot in the back. He was found slumped over the steering wheel, inside his taxi.
LaTonya Turner says she heard gunfire.
"I just heard about four shots. That's about it. Looked out, nobody was out, I saw the cab," said LaTonya Turner.
The chief said detectives were collecting bullet casings and canvassing the neighborhood for witnesses.
