Male Fatally Shot By Police In Maywood
(CBS) -- Maywood police fatally shot a male early Saturday morning after he reached for a gun in his waistband, police said.
Police say they witnessed an apparent drug transaction at approximately 2:11 a.m. Saturday in the 2000 block of 13th Ave. As officers approached to interview the subjects, a male fled the scene.
After a short pursuit, police say the male pulled a gun out of his waistband and officers opened fire and wounded the male. He was transported to Loyola Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner.
The male's weapon was recovered at the scene and no officers were injured.
