Man Wanted For Woodlawn Kidnapping Attempt

CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police are looking for a man wanted for an attempted kidnapping in the South Side Woodlawn neighborhood Monday morning.

Two children were walking to school near the 6100 block of South Rhodes Avenue about 8:15 a.m. when they were approached by a man in a burgundy four-door vehicle, according to a release from Area Central detectives.

A person nearby saw the car approach the children and asked the children if they knew the driver, police said. When they said they did not, the driver said he was their uncle, then drove southbound on Rhodes from 61st Street.

The man is described as a black 34- to 36-year-old with a caramel complexion with a goatee connected to a bushy beard and hair in cornrows, according to the release.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Area Central detectives at (312) 747-8380.
