Man Wanted For Fatal Lockport Shooting Arrested In Georgia
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A 20-year-old man wanted for a fatal shooting in southwest suburban Lockport early this year has been captured in Georgia.
Tariq J. Pinnick was wanted for the shooting that happened about 11:15 p.m. Jan. 13 in the 200 block of Barry Avenue in unincorporated Lockport, according to the Will County sheriff's office.
Deputies responding to a call of shots fired found 22-year-old Dylan Somma unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the chest in the front yard of a home, according to the sheriff's office. He was taken to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, where he was pronounced dead.
A $1 million first-degree murder warrant was issued Jan. 14 for Tariq J. Pinnick, according to the sheriff's office. Detectives believe Pinnick shot Somma during an argument over the purchase of drugs.
Will County Crime Stoppers received a tip Nov. 30 about Pinnick's possible whereabouts, according to the sheriff's office. Detectives contacted the U.S. Marshals Service and the Gwinnett County sheriff's office in Georgia, and they began looking for him.
Pinnick was picked up at a residence Thursday in Norcross, Georgia, according to the sheriff's office. He remains in custody in Georgia on an unrelated felony charge of obstructing justice, and will be brought back to Will County after completion of court proceedings.
Crime Stoppers will be giving a $5,000 reward to the person who provided the tip leading to the arrest of Pinnick by the end of the year, according to the sheriff's office.
