Man Wanted For Attempted Jefferson Park Kidnapping
(STMW) -- Police are looking for a man wanted for an attempted kidnapping in the Northwest Side Jefferson Park neighborhood Thursday afternoon.
A teen girl was walking eastbound in the 5800 block of West Bryn Mawr Avenue between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. when the man driving a Jeep Cherokee eastbound on Bryn Mawr stopped near Menard Avenue and called out to the girl, police said.
The man then parked the vehicle and walked up the victim, told her to "come here" and tried to grab her arm. The girl pulled away and continued walking eastbound, but the man followed her at a distance, police said.
The girl walked to Luna Avenue where she turned and walked southbound. The man drove in the same direction, calling after the girl. When she reached the intersection of Luna and Catalpa Avenues, the man got out of the vehicle and walked up to the girl, who "again rejected the offender's advances," police said.
The man went back to his vehicle and drove off westbound on Catalpa, police said.
The suspect is described as a black male between 25 to 30 years old, standing 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-11, thin build with a dark complexion. He had no facial hair, and he wore a tan knit hat, blue knit sweater and black jeans, police said.
He was driving a "newer" red Jeep Cherokee with specialized license plates that were dark blue and contained the letter K, police said.
