Man Tries To Rob Mount Prospect Bank, Then Hits One In Skokie

(STMW) -- A man who robbed a bank in north suburban Skokie on Wednesday also tried to rob a bank in northwest suburban Mount Prospect earlier in the morning, according to police.

Skokie police and the FBI responded to a report of a robbery about 11:48 a.m. at the MB Financial branch at 4801 Golf Rd., FBI spokeswoman Diane Carbonara said.

The offender put a note on the teller counter demanding money, police said in a statement. No gun was shown, but "the offender kept one hand in his bag during the robbery." The offender then ran out with an amount of cash.

He was described as a black man about 5-foot-10 with dark complexion and large build, wearing a dark colored baseball hat with a "C" logo on the front. He also wore sunglasses, a black short sleeve t-shirt and dark pants, and was carrying a blue duffel bag.

The same man is believed to be responsible for the attempted robbery of the Chase Bank branch at 1190 S. Elmhurst Rd. in Mount Prospect about an hour earlier, according to Skokie police.

Anyone with information should call police at (847) 982-5900 or the Crime Tip Hotline at (847) 933-8477.
