Man Shot Inside Apartment In Wauconda
WAUCONDA, Ill. (STMW) -- A man was shot Sunday night inside his girlfriend's apartment in northwest suburban Wauconda.
Three men knocked on a second-floor apartment door in the 100 block of South Main Street in Wauconda about 8:30 p.m. Sunday, Wauconda police Chief Patrick Yost said.
One of three children who lives in the apartment opened the door and let the three men in, Yost said. The 26-year-old boyfriend of the child's mother approached the men and began arguing with them. At some point, one of the three pulled out a gun and shot the 26-year-old in the chest, Yost said.
The group then ran out, got in a dark-colored sedan and drove off, Yost said.
The 26-year-old was taken to a hospital, where he was in "stable" condition Monday morning, Yost said.
Police do not believe the shooting was connected to a robbery or was a random act, and said the three men may know the victim.
Wauconda police are investigating.
