Man Shot In South Lawndale

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man arguing with his girlfriend was hospitalized early Thursday after his mother's boyfriend shot him during a domestic dispute in the South Lawndale neighborhood on the Southwest Side.

The 29-year-old man was involved in an argument with his girlfriend about 1:30 a.m. inside a home in the 2300 block of South Central Park Avenue when his mother's boyfriend attempted to intervene and, after a struggle ensued, grabbed a gun and shot the man, said police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.

The man was taken with gunshot wounds to the right shoulder and thumb to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in "stable" condition, Alfaro said.

The mother's boyfriend was taken into custody, Alfaro said. Charges were pending early Thursday.

Area Central detectives are investigating.
