Man Shot And Killed In Portage Park

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man died Tuesday morning after he was shot Monday night by an acquaintance in the Portage Park neighborhood on the Northwest Side.

The victim was a passenger in a vehicle about 10:30 p.m., when the male driver, an acquaintance, fired shots inside the vehicle in the 4300 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.

The 20-year-old man suffered gunshot wounds to the left arm and abdomen, and got out of the vehicle, Alfaro said. He walked to his home in the 5000 block of West Cullom Avenue, where rescue crews were contacted.

He was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he died at 4:42 a.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. His name was not being released Tuesday morning pending notification of family.

No one was in custody as of late Tuesday morning as Area North detectives investigate.
