Man Shot While Walking To Cook County Criminal Courthouse
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A man was shot Monday morning while walking to the Leighton Criminal Courthouse in the Little Village neighborhood.
Police originally said the 22-year-old man was entering the courthouse at 26th and California around 9:30 a.m., when a white van drove by, and someone inside fired shots. However, police later said the shooting happened in the 2500 block of South California Avenue, and a crime scene was set up outside a Popeye's chicken restaurant less than a block from the courthouse, just north of the intersection of 26th and California.
The victim was shot six times, and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, police said.
