Man Fatally Struck By Blue Line Train In Oak Park

(STMW) -- A 24-year-old man was struck and killed by a CTA Blue Line train Tuesday evening in west suburban Oak Park.

Crews were called at 6:12 p.m. to the Austin station, 1050 S. Austin Blvd., according to Oak Park police and the CTA.

He was dead at the scene, according to police and the Cook County medical examiner's office. His name was withheld pending notification of his family.

It wasn't immediately clear how he ended up on the tracks, police said. An autopsy was scheduled for Wednesday.

Trains on the western leg of the Blue Line were suspended until about 8:45 p.m. as crews cleared the scene.
