Man Dies After Going For Swim In Chicago River Downtown
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A young man out for a night on the town died after he jumped into the Chicago River downtown late Thursday night.
Chicago police and firefighters responded to several 911 calls around 11:30 p.m., after a 20-year-old man went into the river near the Columbus Drive bridge.
Friends told rescue crews the man had decided to go swimming in the river.
Fire Department divers located him under the water line, and paramedics used CPR and an automated external defibrillator to revive him before he was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. However, he was later pronounced dead.
