Man Convicted Of Sexually Assaulting Woman At Grandmother's House
AURORA (CBS) -- A man has been convicted of sexually assaulting a woman last year at his grandmother's house in west suburban Aurora.
A Kane County jury found 22-year-old Stephawn A. Johnson guilty Thursday of felony counts of criminal sexual assault and criminal sexual abuse, according to the Kane County state's attorney's office.
Johnson, who lives in the 200 block of North Homan, was at a gathering at his grandmother's home on the evening of May 9, 2015, with three other men and a woman, prosecutors said. Early the next morning, Johnson took the victim's date and another person home, leaving the woman at his grandmother's house.
Johnson then returned to the house, where he and another man sexually assaulted her, prosecutors said.
Johnson remains in custody at the Kane County Jail and is expected to appear for sentencing Oct. 19, prosecutors said. In addition to his sentence, he will be required to register for life as a sex offender.
Johnson's co-defendant, 22-year-old Andres Fonseca, is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual assault and other related charges, according to the state's attorney's office. His trial is scheduled to begin Nov. 14.
