Around 3:50 p.m. on Monday, police responded to a disturbance call near 15th and Hanover streets. When officers arrived, they found two teenage boys with stab wounds, police said.

The boys' mother said her sons were on the playground with their sister on Monday afternoon when Hardy approached them and gave them strange and nasty looks.

The two brothers approached Hardy and told him to leave them alone, but that prompted an argument, and Hardy stabbed both boys.

One of the victims, 13-year-old David Sanchez, was taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where he died on Tuesday, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

His 14-year-old brother was taken to Stroger Hospital and was recovering from his injuries, police said.

It was at Harold Park in Chicago Heights where David Sanchez along with his brother and sister came to enjoy the warm weather on Monday.

Chicago Heights police responded to the 1500 block of Hanover Street where two teens were found stabbed at a playground.

A family friend told CBS 2 that the teens were at the park with their sister. They said the teens told him to stop. It started an argument and the man then stabbed the brothers.

Hardy fled the scene while the two victims were taken to nearby hospitals.

Sanchez died on Tuesday as a result of his injuries, while his 14-year-old brother was taken to Stroger Medical Center where he was treated and released.

Using license plate reader technology, police were able to track down Hardy, arresting him on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the David Sanchez's family has launched a GoFundMe page to help with funeral costs. His funeral is scheduled for March 7.
