Woman charged with plotting boyfriend's murder in Bridgeview shooting

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (CBS) — In a shocking twist in the shooting death of a southwest suburban man, the victim's girlfriend is now charged with plotting his murder.

Agnieszka Rydzewski, 33, is charged with solicitation to commit murder.

Bridgeview Police say Rydzewski convinced her coworker, 20-year-old Anthony Calderon, of Bedford Park, to shoot and kill her boyfriend. Police said on Wednesday morning the victim remotely started his car and was walking towards it when he was confronted by Calderon, who shot him.

On Wednesday, Arturo Cantu Jr., 39, was found dead on the sidewalk near 79th and Oketo. He was shot twice around 5 a.m.

The Bridgeview Police and the Major Crime Task Force secured video from a nearby business that helped identify Calderon as the suspect.

Calderon was arrested late Friday night and charged with first-degree murder.

Investigators say they found evidence that Rydzewski and Calderon were also in a romantic relationship.

Calderon is now facing first-degree murder charges.
