Man Charged With Killing Woman Found Slain After February Fire

CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man has been charged with stabbing a woman to death in the Southwest Side Brighton Park neighborhood in February.

Matthew Rosario, 28, was charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 51-year-old Lucy Wrobel, authorities said.

Wrobel was found dead with stab wounds to her neck and trauma to her head inside her home in the 2500 block of West 45th Place on the afternoon of Feb. 7 after several buildings caught fire, authorities said at the time.

An autopsy found that she died of multiple injuries from a physical assault and her death was ruled a homicide, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

Police did not provide a motive for the slaying.

Rosario, of the 4600 block of South Washtenaw Avenue, is expected to appear in bond court Thursday.
