Carson was speeding southbound on Halsted Street in a stolen silver SUV when he crashed, striking a car in the intersection at 71st Street, police said. The car then struck a light pole before stopping, police said.

Carson was taken to Holy Cross Hospital, where his condition stabilized, police said.
