Man Charged In West Side Chase, Crash

A West Side man has been charged after a police chase ended in a crash Wednesday afternoon in the Tri-Taylor neighborhood.

Officers started pursuing a vehicle about 5 p.m. at Harrison Street and Sacramento Boulevard until it crashed at Harrison and Western Avenue, according to Chicago Police. No one was hurt.

The driver, 22-year-old Markeise Williams, tried to run away but was arrested nearby, police said. The passenger escaped.

Williams, of the 3100 block of West Lexington, was charged with a felony count of aggravated fleeing; misdemeanor counts of leaving the scene of an accident and driving on a suspended license; and seven traffic citations, police said. He is due in bond court Friday.
