Man Charged In Sexual Assault On DePaul Campus
(CBS) -- A man from Chicago's Uptown neighborhood, suspected of being a serial rapist, has been charged with one of three recent sexual assaults in the Lincoln Park neighborhood, reports WBBM's Mike Krauser.
40-year-old Isidrio Valverde did not go peacefully, police say, when they tried to arrest him, he tried to run down an officer with his car.
Valverde has been charged with one assault so far, that of a 21-year-old woman on the DePaul campus early Thursday morning. He is charged with one count of aggravated criminal sexual assault and felony resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer. Police say the woman identified him as her attacker.
Investigators said Friday they believe the same person was responsible for each of the three sexual assaults. The other two occurred on the 1900 block of North Bissell Street and the 100 block of West Goethe. In each case, the women were walking home alone in the early morning hours and were approached from behind.
Valverde was ordered held on $500,000 bond in court on Saturday.
